The East Race Waterway is North America's first artificial whitewater course, and one of only a handful in the world. Designed for beginner to advanced rafters, the 1,900 foot waterway runs at a white water scale of 2. The surrounding grounds feature plenty of green spaces, playgrounds, fishing areas and a fish ladder, from where rafters can view salmon and trout swimming upstream. It is located on the St. Joseph River, just north of Howard Park.
